You may be asking yourself “what will I do after I finish my treatments?” “Are there things I put off while I was fighting cancer?” Maybe you are just not sure what you want to do at this point.
Four years ago on New Year’s Eve, I finished my last dose of chemo. I was so thrilled to be closing that chapter of my story. It was great to not have to go through the nausea and lack of interest in eating anymore. As I moved from 2017 to 2018, there was one thing I wanted to do. That was to get away for a nice quiet weekend somewhere to just relax and allow myself to be grateful for getting through that ordeal. But that was all I wanted. I never had someone to work with to tap into any additional dreams, hopes or actions I wanted to pursue. So I just went back to where I had left off my life prior to being diagnosed. Looking back, I am sure there were many missed opportunities to pursue anything new or different.
As you go through your own battle with cancer, you may be struggling with looking past what you're experiencing and what your life may look like after cancer. Having cancer is not the end of your story. You can write the next chapter! You can have your “what’s next”.
